At seventeen years old, she joined the Loreto Nuns in Dublin, Ireland. She came to India in 1928. Felt pity to the poor slum dweller living opposite to the convent, she ask permission from Pope to started free school for poor children. The school began to grow and named 'Nirmal Hirday'. In 1950, she founded a new religious order 'Missionaries of Charity'. After received a lot of award, she finally received the Noble Prize 1979 for Peace and International Understanding.
